As part of their push to educate emerging Adelaide-based artists, MusicSA has organised an exciting workshop that promises to expound on the “ins and outs” of touring across Australia, with a special emphasis on how to navigate touring as an Adelaide-based musician.
MusicSA has employed some special guest speakers to impart their expertise on national touring to the attendees. The moody indie-pop/rock artist Jess Day, who has enjoyed much success on the road, will be presenting, as will Dyl and Bamm from the alternative dance-punk trio Nocturnal Animals, which has thrilled audiences across Australia.

As interstate touring - which is crucial to building credibility as an artist - can be such an unwieldy, unpredictable process for burgeoning bands, this session aims to ease some of the pressure and stress by imparting useful knowledge. The workshop will cover topics such as managing Virgin Australia's baggage allowance for musicians, car hire options, and practical tips on what to expect while on tour, with an emphasis on logistical planning and cost management.
“Australian Touring 101” will take place on October 23rd from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Carclew Mansion, 11 Jeffcott Street, North Adelaide.
The workshop is free, but RSVPs are essential. Tickets are currently available through Humantix and are going fast.
