One of The Music’s recent cover stars, Kita Alexander, has signed a worldwide publishing deal with Kobalt Music.

The announcement arrives hot off the heels of Alexander releasing her debut album, Young In Love, after ten years of hustling within the music industry and an even more satisfying personal journey: motherhood.

In addition to landing the publishing deal, Young In Love is this week’s Feature Album on triple j—just in time for Alexander’s national tour dates.

Alexander said about the partnership with Kobalt Music (via Celebrity Access), “I’m so excited to announce that I have just now signed my first-ever publishing deal. I have been waiting [for] the last almost ten years for the right team to represent my music.

“When I met with Kobalt and understood their founding virtues, it instantly made me want to join them. I am so excited for this new adventure and cannot wait to see what Kobalt can do to try and help me further my career.”

Briese Abbott, Kobalt’s Head of Creative Services in Australia and New Zealand, added, “Kita is an exceptional songwriter who draws on deeply personal experiences to write broadly relatable and timeless songs.

“Having already had success in dance [Atmosphere with FISHER, All Night with Laurel] and country [Date Night with Morgan Evans] collaborations, she’s evidence that when the songwriting is strong, there is no need for an artist to be bound by genre. We are very pleased to be a part of her team as she enters this critical next phase of her career.”

In an interview with The Music’s Claire Dunton, Alexander dished on her journey in music.

“It's funny because I have been releasing music for almost ten years now – I just haven't done the touring because I had kids, took some time away from touring and doing promo and all of that,” she revealed.

“Even my band thinks I have done more shows than I have done – I should try and count, but it really isn't a lot compared to other artists at my stage. So, I feel like I am still finding my feet, finding my groove, but I am having lots of fun up there. If I can move around up there, then that's the best time.”
