Kita Alexander Announces Debut Album 'Young In Love'

Byron Bay-based singer Kita Alexander has announced that her debut album, Young In Love, will be released on Friday, 22 March, via Warner Music Australia. She’s also shared a run of national tour dates to coincide with the album release in April 2024.

Alexander unveiled a new single, Best You Ever Had, to accompany the album announcement. A bright, summery pop number, Alexander sounds confident and slick in the epic kiss-off. She said about the single in a press release:

This song to me is the encapsulation of impulsive thoughts. When feelings throw you into fight or flight and you have irrational desires to say whatever comes to mind. This song is unfiltered. Without use of my rational, logical brain. It’s cavewoman like, it’s self-destructive, it’s everything I don’t like being. I don’t like fighting; I don’t like using anger and ego as a protective mechanism to stop me from being vulnerable. But sometimes it just comes out and that’s ok. To some it might seem like an empowering feminist song to me it’s my internal dialogue that makes me feel big and strong. Best You Ever Had is when you fight back with your ego.

Best You Ever Had follows three previously released singles: 7 Minutes In Heaven, Queen, and Date Night, featuring Aussie country music sensation Morgan Evans.

On the album, she added, “Finding yourself in your early 20s isn't easy. It's hard, whichever path you take. But I feel like I've been able to come into myself whilst being in such a loving and beautiful relationship.”

In an Instagram post, she wrote:

This is the album I have been waiting years to give you. This album is about the infinite push and pull of being in love. My music has always been grounded in personal experience and for those who have followed my career for some time.. you’ll recognise stories and images. But, not everything is a word for word written account of my life and my story. Little moments have inspired me to expand and dramatise events, create moments and imagery from feelings big and small. I’m really proud of myself and how I have created this body of work. I hope you all can take something from this and remember to just let it go, we’re only young in love for a second.
