Impressed Recordings burst onto the Australian physical media scene last November.

After opening their first brick-and-mortar store in Sydney in April—on Record Store Day, no less—Impressed has returned with new developments, signing a physical distribution deal with UK company Republic of Music and opening their own management arm, Impressed Music Management. Under Impressed Music Management, the boutique vinyl label will represent Babitha, Beth & Blue, Loose Content, Liminal, and others.

Supporting acts like Royel Otis, The Wiggles, Tasman Keith, Chet Faker, Briggs, Elsy Wameyo, The Middle East, and Full Flower Moon Band, amongst others, Impressed has worked to reshape vinyl distribution in Australia.

By teaming up with the Republic of Music, Impressed has extended its reach throughout the UK, the US, and Europe, meaning that limited Australian vinyl pressings will now have a home overseas.

In a statement, Impressed Recordings’ Managing Director Luke Bevans discussed the company's “incredible” journey over the last year and expressed excitement about the future.

“What a year it has been,” Bevans said. “We’ve been on an incredible journey in such a short time, and we’re grateful for every step - even the mistakes have been a learning opportunity. We’re thankful to all the artists, labels, friends and most of all our customers for supporting us - and we’re excited for what the future holds.”

Georgia O’Connor, Impressed’s Project and A&R Manager, detailed her longtime love and appreciation of vinyl and added: “When Impressed started pressing vinyl, it felt like my childhood dreams and adult artistic self was coming to life.

“Working with artists and labels to create their art in physical form and then being able to give customers the same feeling I felt while listening to my parent’s record collection is a crazy, chaotic and beautiful journey.”

Babitha and Beth & Blue’s Imogen Grist added, “I’m so excited to be working with such a passionate team who are actively looking for ways to reinvigorate the industry. They have such an open-minded and collaborative approach, which is very refreshing, and I feel incredibly nurtured as an artist. Can’t wait to see how the future unfolds!”
