"The first time we heard Fade’s music, it hit us like nothing we’d ever heard before—impossible to label, impossible to ignore,” said Astral People Recordings’ Head of Label, Chris Rigney.

Enigmatic Naarm/Melbourne quartet Fade Evare have announced their signing to Astral People Recordings alongside the release of their new single, Keep Talking.
The group – which emerged in 2024 alongside the unofficial release of debut track Yamaha Dreaming – have turned heads thanks to their unique tripwave sound, evoking sonic comparisons to the likes of Portishead, Massive Attack and The xx.
The band provide a helpful definition of the tripwave genre in a press release alongside their news, describing it as “a delicate amalgam of dubby, bass-heavy arrangements, shadowy post-punk and hypnotic, trip hop production with enigmatic yet beguiling pop sensibilities, creating evocative and cinematic music, as typified by Australian band Fade Evare”.
The electronic four-piece – which is centred around the sibling duo of Mira and Tori Holleman (formerly of Retiree) – have been showing plenty of promise thanks to their melancholic, atmospheric, and joyful sound, which is as blissful as it is mesmerising. According to Astral People Recordings’ Head of Label, Chris Rigney, that’s exactly what made the group resonate so strongly.
“The first time we heard Fade’s music, it hit us like nothing we’d ever heard before—impossible to label, impossible to ignore,” Rigney says. “It’s a raw, unpredictable blend of genres that cuts through the noise, something you don’t find much of these days”.

The signing is accompanied by the group’s latest single, with Keep Talking continuing the sonic evolution of what was heard on the band’s 2024 debut.
“This song was built around a kinda hypnotic live jam,” Fade Evare explained. “The lyrics are more of a mantra than a chorus. Even though the song is a bit dark, to us it feels confident and almost triumphant, it can shake a bad mood if you blast it in the headphones on a walk around the block!”
Paired with a visual from director director Tori Holleman and DOP Tom Nicholas Lewis, the group expanded upon the track a little more on socials.
“Keep Talking is a hypnotic catharsis,” they added. “Swirling progression that loops sneakily back around on itself in a time signature we’ve never bothered counting out, something about the rotation just feels right, like it’s ready to begin again.
“When we were making this song it existed as an instrumental for a long time. If I was having a shit one I found myself turning to this song. It made me want to move and would get me out of the house for long walks or drives. I ended up singing along to it quite a bit, somewhat incoherently, purging the demons while blasting it in headphones. After a while I kept locking back into this one short mantra. One that felt liberating and comforting at the same time.”
Keep Talking is issued today as a double A-side alongside Yamaha Dreaming, giving the former an official release at long last. First issued on the group’s Bandcamp page and Soundcloud account in late November, it quickly found widespread support thanks to being added to rotation of stations such as FBi Radio and 2SER, with further airplay across RRR and PBS FM.
