Expressions Of Interest Open For Music SA's Scouted Program

Scouted, Music SA’s live music discovery platform which allows emerging and unsigned artists to plug their tunes to an Indie-Con audience in Adelaide is returning this August and as of this week, Expressions of Interest are now open.

The opportunity is open for local unsigned bands and artists. Scouted is presented on Friday, 4 August, and coincides with the Australian Independent Record Labels Association’s (AIR) annual Indie-Con Australia conference which is in Adelaide, Australia’s UNESCO-designated City of Music.

The Scouted program began in 2017. In its five years, artists who performed at the Indie-Con conference have gone on to be signed by booking agents, managers and record labels, as well as headline their own shows and land great spots on festival line-ups.

According to a press release, Scouted “assists emerging participants in making lasting industry connections and can be a pathway to the national music industry map.”

An example of Scouted working in real life is in local acts Mum’s Favourites, Natasha Bianca and Sacredd added to the Groovin The Moo 2023 Wayville line-up as a direct result of their appearances at Scouted 2022.

In addition to those artists, Coldwave (pictured above) released an EP through PAK Records and performed at Adelaide’s Laneway Festival as Triple J’s Unearthed Feature Artist. 

Due to Scouted, Divebar Youth has gained well-deserved acclaim and attention from Triple J and MTV. 

Meanwhile, Bussey’s profile has grown exponentially and cumulated in an addition to this year’s Heaps Good Festival line-up.

Scouted has even led to award nominations – Sons Of Zoku won the People’s Choice Award – Experimental at the South Australian Music Awards last year and played at WOMADelaide 2023.

Expressions of Interest to participate in Scouted 2023 opened on Wednesday (7 June) and close in two weeks – on Wednesday, 21 June.
