Six months on from the launch of Community Music, UNIFIED Music Group’s full artist services ecosystem and platform has now launched its new Publishing And Sync arm.

Launched today, the addition of these new services aims to cement Community Music as a “one-stop shop” for recorded music, release and rights management. The new division will be headed by music and tech industry leader Rachel Kelly, who takes on the role of General Manager.

Kelly joins the team with decades of experience under her belt, having served as VP of Commercial at Proper Music Group, Creative Director and Head of Sync at Downtown Music Publishing, Creative Director and VP of Creative at BMG Rights Management, and Head of Licensing at Alberts.

Additionally, Kelly has also been a Women In Music Mentor for AIR (the Australian Independent Record Labels Association) and APRA AMCOS, and has also served as a Board Member for AMPAL (Australasian Music Publishers Association).

“When it comes to making career moves, my philosophy is simple: surround yourself with good people and great music,” Kelly says. “Jaddan and the whole team at UNIFIED are inherently good people, doing great things.

“A community inspired by music and powered by tech brings the best of both worlds. I’m excited to be working at the frontline for independent artists and songwriters as part of the team at UNIFIED and within the broader music community.”

“Rachel Kelly has long been a force in championing Australia’s independent music community — someone we’ve admired and respected for many years,” added UNIFIED Music Group Founder and CEO Jaddan Comerford.

“As we mapped out the next evolution of Community Music, expanding into Publishing and Sync is a natural and necessary step. There was no question: Rachel was the obvious choice to lead this new chapter and continue our mission to create a global distribution and artist services alternative that exists to enhance independence.”

Community Music was first launched in October 2024 as a “global distribution and artist services alternative,” with Product Development Manager Will Cuming (aka LANKS) on the team, alongside LA-based Vice President of UNIFIED Recorded Music Francesca Caldara, and Melbourne-based Dan Nascimento, who took on the role of General Manager.

Community exists to support the local development of Australian artists in building long-term global careers by enhancing their independence and control. Already, Community has supported artists such as Ocean Alley, The Rions, The Stamps, and Sarah Saint James, with new music being released by Pete Murray, Azure Ryder, Maddy Jane, and Mulga Bore Hard Rock, and label partnerships with international partners such as Mantra Roots also being announced.

The nascent launch of the Publishing And Sync arm looks to expand Community’s reach, supporting Australian artists across every facet of the industry, from management, recording, distribution, and touring.
