Mei Semones today announces her long awaited Australian debut tour this June. Signing to Brooklyn-based record label Bayonet Records (Beach Fossils), Semones released her debut album Animaru under the label in 2025, and received worldwide recognition for her songwriting that features a seamless, fluttering mix between English and Japanese lyrics. Mei describes her style of writing as something that comes with whatever feels natural to her at the time. As a former jazz student at Berklee - Mei finds herself drawing inspiration from adored transcripts, recordings and chord progressions she has heard over the years.Coined an “artist to watch” by FADER Label, Pigeons & Planes, The NY Times and more - Mei Semones is a rising star. With her forthcoming EP Kurage on the way with an April 10th release date - you can hear a taste of what’s to come with newest single ‘Koneko’. A collaboration with British-Brazilian artist Liana Flores, ‘Koneko’ is a bossa-nova inspired song that celebrates the simple and pure joy of friendship. From walking along the canal in London, drinking tea and eating strawberries with your closest friends - this song celebrates friendship in its simplest and truest form.
