What?

Hannah Macklin returns to the touring circuit with a new body of work; a sneak peek into what’s to come from her next studio release (succeeding her 2023 LP, “Mu”).

Hannah will be offering audiences on the tour an exclusive free download of her own “Scarab Beetle” mantra; a carefully crafted and researched vocal mantra designed to activate the Third Eye Chakra. The mantra is one of seven which she will release sometime in 2025 under her teaching practice’s name, “Shen Place”.

Hannah herself takes up the bass for these shows and is joined by Magandjin heavies Brandon Mamata (guitar) and Sam Mitchell (drums) who together, pull a dynamic trio sound blending jazz, prog, hip-hop, R&B and world influences to present Hannah’s newest body of work, which is steeped in themes of Dreaming, regeneration, God, love and the cosmos.

Not one to shy away from exploring controversial, spiritual and cross-continental themes, song titles include “Hudna” (Arabic for “Ceasfire”); “Samadhi” (Sanksrit for “a state of meditative consciousness”); and “Yuya Karrabura” (a teaching from the late poet, activist and Ndjebbana woman Alice Eather, meaning “fire is burning”).

The main support slot will be played by Matty Witney. After spending eight years immersed in Chicago’s vibrant music scene, collaborating with many talented musicians and leading his band Dried Spider, Matty Witney has returned to Australia to focus on a life guided by inner peace. As a solo artist, Matty takes on the role of a soulful and curious troubadour. His songs are intricate, thoughtful, and carefully crafted, blending influences from soul, folk, and jazz.

The night will be opened by the enchanting and melancholy songstress AYLA.Please note: Please be advised that seating at our venue is limited.
