Business/Position: Alberts, Head Of Development
Tell us about how you first became involved in the music business and where you are now? I started off writing songs and playing in bands. Got into music production then worked as a writer/producer here and overseas.
Is this your first WA Music Conference? This will be my third WA Music Conference. I’ve always been impressed with the quality of artists coming out of WA and this is a great way to get to see some of the best perform. The awards night is also a bit of fun!
What will you be primarily discussing during your appearance at the WA Music Conference, and why is this area important? I’m speaking on the artist income streams from sync to grants to crowd funding panel. Income from music publishing and in particular sync income has become a vital part of the revenue stream for songwriters, particularly in the music streaming environment. I’ll be focusing on the role a music publisher plays in providing opportunities that generate income for a song writer.
One piece of advice to help others succeed in the music industry? Be the best you can at what you do and don’t be afraid to take a chance. Also, if your heart isn’t into it 100% there are easier ways to make a living!
