Almost a quarter century after forming, Sydney's The Main Plot are finally releasing their debut single and video for Open The Hats More, premiering exclusively today on theMusic.com.au.
The clip tells a tale as old as time; you're a mid-level band, just trying to record your debut album after near to 25 years of attempting to get it down and your bloody drummer (who promised to play it heavy) won't open his hi-hats enough to create the ear-shattering sound you desire.
Join guitarist Sparkle Gas, vocalist Banksia and drummer Boomstix (who also moonlights as The Music Podcast's producer) as they traverse this potentially band-ending problem over the space of two and a half minutes.
"Open The Hats More is about opening the hi-hats more," Sparkle Gas explains.
"Boomstix only has one job in this band and it sure as fuck isn’t to play with closed hi-hats."
Following their explosion onto the scene with the new tune, the band is expected to go on hiatus for the next 11 years in a tradition they have been observing since the '90s.
