Turns out almost anything can be used to make a beat.

More Taka Perry More Taka Perry

Sydney talent Taka Perry might just be one of the most creative producers around, as evident via his latest video, Tokyo Beat Challenge.

The new clip, premiering today via The Music, sees Perry collect sounds from around Tokyo – everything from cicadas to a vibrator – to create a beat with.

As if that wasn’t entertaining enough, he gave himself a 30-minute limit to create something once he hit the studio with all the samples.

“I was in Tokyo last month for a run of sessions and meetings,” Perry told The Music.

“I had a day off so thought it’d be cool to make a beat using just sounds I recorded around the city.

“I had no idea how I was going to use any of the sounds while I was capturing them but knew it would be pretty interesting trying to piece them together.”

The Tokyo Beat Challenge video follows on from Perry’s recent single Kuruna, which features Japanese rapper JP THE WAVY.
