Emergent Brisbane trio PYNES are preceding their eagerly awaited slot at next week's BIGSOUND events in Fortitude Valley by unveiling the trippy, technicolour clip for their fantastically moreish new single, Never Enough, proudly premiering on theMusic.com.au today.

With its snappy, imaginative drum lines, its ethereal, reverberating guitar and effortlessly warm, elegant vocals, Never Enough is an alluring dark-pop gem and exemplary follow-up to the band's first single, Lighting Fires. Still carrying the hallmarks of a band on a mission to lock down their unique identity, the track nonetheless finds new ways to draw on and display the individual members' vast talents and experience; for the uninitiated, vocalist/guitarist Mel Tickle and guitarist Pat Elliott both played together in Little Scout, with the former also serving as a touring member of the John Steel Singers and the latter known for his work with Big Strong Brute, while drummer Jacob Hicks drums for Jonathan Boulet and was a member of local outfits Re:Enactment and Mr Maps, giving all three a deep history on which to draw in composing and arranging their enchanting new works.

The result is unquestionably an appealing one, with Never Enough boasting both a wide accessibility and base infectiousness underscored by luscious aural tricks and turns that inject the track with more than enough intelligence and intricacy to keep things interesting. This is matched by the deceptively simple clip, which sports art direction from Tickle and Mitch Fresta, and was directed and edited by renowned videographer Jaymis Loveday. All three contributed to the filming of the clip.

The new track arrives just ahead of the band's upcoming appearances at and around BIGSOUND, with Tickle and Elliott lined up for a stripped-back duo performance at The Foundry on the afternoon of Thursday 8 September before they're joined by Hicks for a full-band performance at Ric's Big Backyard that night. The trio will also be supporting Mike Noga at The Bearded Lady on Saturday 17 September, when he comes to town in service of his wild new concept full-length, King.
