VIDEO PREMIERE: Kim Salmon & The Surrealists – ‘Burn Down The Plantation’

“So with this song the way you’re hearing it is basically us making it up as its being recorded here."

More Kim Salmon & The Surrealists Kim Salmon & The Surrealists

Aussie blues punk legends Kim Salmon & The Surrealists return with a new album next month, today unveiling the music video for its lead single exclusively via The Music.

The band’s eighth studio LP, Rantings From The Book Of Swamp, is set for release on September 4 and its first taste comes in the form of Burn Down The Plantation.

The clip for Burn Down The Plantation was recorded live, with Salmon noting that "before the filming, the song didn’t really exist".

“So with this song the way you’re hearing it is basically us making it up as its being recorded here,” Salmon told The Music.

“I came to the live stream session prepared with a bunch of loose lyrical sketches that I’d be able sing into whatever the band jammed up! Some of my sketches were ‘word play’ and some were melodies that came to me from time to time.

“For the latter I’d need some words just to have something to sing. Burn Down The Plantation was such a phrase. And what a loaded phrase! I wrote down a few lines for it in my book back in February.”
