East Kimberley songwriter ICONYX has returned with a stunning, powerful new single, Stand Up.
Amid the friction in the country and across the globe, ICONYX draws on echoes of the past and channels them into her own strength, identity, and voice. With Stand Up, she demands that we all stand together and break down the walls that divide us.
The music video, premiering on The Music today, finds ICONYX teaming up with collaborators Uncool Sam and Boss Arts Creative as she raps and sings in an eerie, abandoned shopping centre, filled with overgrown plants and graffiti.
Whether she’s in the shopping mall or outside, in the empty car park, ICONYX commands with her hard-hitting lyrics, matched by her magnetic raps and singing voice. Donning black-and-white sweats, she makes her presence known in a clip filled with dark blues and greens, the colours around her washed out.
When she appears before a small tree that grows despite its dystopian surroundings, ICONYX becomes a symbol of resilience. And with lines ruminating on “Our bright future's black history” and “Break down these walls piece by piece,” she speaks a generational truth.

Stand Up marks the second music video from ICONYX’s debut album, Blak On Trak, released last year through SkinnyFish Music and distributed by MGM. You can check out the music video below.
“I’m so excited to finally share my music video for Stand Up,” ICONYX said. “Sometimes the world feels messed up—like everything’s falling apart—but I really believe there’s always room to grow, to push back, to stay strong.
“I hope we can learn from the past, figure out who we want to be, and stand together for something better. Who’s with me?”
Blak On Trak was released last March. The album traverses hip-hop, R&B, world, and contemporary music while drawing from her Kukatja and Pintupi roots and upbringing in Whadjuk, Noongar Boodja. She combines traditional storytelling with modern music, all while honouring the complexity of her identity as a First Nations woman.
Before the release of her debut album, ICONYX had already amassed three WAM Award nominations and won in the Act Belong Commit category in 2022 for her song, Dawn Of The Future.
