Melbourne-bred country-punk/doom-folk crew Dane Blacklock & The Preacher's Daughter recently put out their second single, The Hotel Locura, and, ahead of its launch show at The Tote tomorrow night, The Music is proud to premiere the track's just-released video clip.
The song's lyrical narrative speaks of a seedy room in the titular hotel; a bedside drawer that contains a Gideon Bible next to a kilogram of heroin; of winos and whisky and missing teeth and missing purpose. Fittingly, then, the accompanying video — which was directed by Blacklock, who also served as production designer and co-producer, with Tania Tobiano — reflects the track's vivid, scum-and-weirdness-heavy imagery in its visual settings and choices.
Along with Blacklock, the clip stars band members Stirling Gill-Chambers, Curtis Hatton, Claire Garrett and Jeremy Morris, as well as featuring the talents of Danae Swinburne, Stephen Jones, Natalie Stone, Lia Luna and Buttons Dear.
The Hotel Locura follows the band's inaugural single, Cocaine Days, which they popped out just last month, as well as a collection of demos released in July last year. Both are available on their Bandcamp page.
