Video Clip Focus: Smoking Martha

Song title? All Lit Up

Director: Damien Quick

What’s the concept behind the clip? The song is about emotions going up and down, a neverending ride. We wanted the video to feel chaotic like our emotions, but keeping a party vibe to match the bounciness of the music.

How long did it take to make? Filming: one-and-a-half days, two separate locations. Over 50 hours of editing.

Where did you film it? The majority at West End’s The Bearded Lady! We were looking for a vibe that crossed between Sin City, comics, saloon bars and underground ‘80s clubs. Some scenes were filmed in a sexy Pontiac Firebird!

What’s your favourite part of the clip? So many fun scenes! A tie between the Street Fighter bar fight scene, the sexy lady rocking on a mechanical bull and Mighty Boosh-esque car driving scenes!

Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making? We wanted to get a real choppy comic feel happening along the lines of the movie Sin City.

Will you be launching it? The video premiere show is at The Bearded Lady, 21 Nov. Free entry!
