Maggie Collins got her start at community radio station 4ZZZ where she would become music director and pick up management duties for Brisbane group The John Steel Singers. From there, Collins would move on to work across the triple j network and manage DZ Deathrays and The Creases. Collins took up the role of bookings and production manager at Goodgod Small Club in Sydney in 2015 and was named as part of BIGSOUND’s programming team the same year.
Maggie Collins’ Morning Belle celebrated its second year in 2019 and it was by no means small. DZ Deathrays released their fourth studio album, Positive Rising: Part 1, which scored an ARIA Award nomination for the Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album and saw them tour Australia, Europe and the US extensively. Sydney artist Donny Benet also joined the Morning Belle roster, with Collins securing Benet deal with United Talent Agency in the US soon after.
BIGSOUND remains a key part of Morning Belle’s year, with Collins again delivering a huge program for the revered conference and festival. The 2019 event saw Collins head up the programming team - made up of Tom Larkin, Melody Forghani and Tim Shiel - and deliver the event out of the new festival hub, Cloudland.
Speakers included Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino, Fyre Festival’s Andy King and more, while Cry Club, Adrian Eagle, Johnny Hunter, DREGG, Jaguar Jonze and more appeared on the artist line-up. Collins remains a member of the Association of Artist Managers.
"The thing I'm most proud of is growing my company's revenue and staff. As an independent artist manager, programmer and general entrepreneur this is something I will never take for granted. Also with the internal changes surrounding BIGSOUND 2019 I'm really proud of what I achieved with the incredible programming team. I also took six months off booze and got married so it was a crazy year."
