Funk, disco and R&B aplenty..

Having just released their disco filled full-length, Active Galactic, we thought we'd better have masters of funk The Delta Riggs take us through some of the songs that helped shape album number three. Opening singles Surgery Of Love and Never Seen This Before were two of the most undeniable d-floor fillers we've heard from a band this year, so it's no surprise that The Riggs have gifted us some equally danceable tunes to wrap our ears around.

Curtis Mayfield - If I Were Only A Child Again

This is an ambitious track introducing different layers and sections as the song progresses. We can sometimes see sounds as colour and this track is the perfect example.

The Stranglers - Peaches

The tightness of the rhythm section is what makes this track. Also, the compression style makes it instantly recognisable.

Cut Copy - Saturdays

I love this track and have always loved Cut Copy, especially Bright Like Neon Love. This is the kind of escapism we look for in our own music.

Outkast - Ain't No Thang

The freshness, the flow of Andre 3000 based around his social commentary. It's radical.

N.E.R.D - Backseat Love

Love the production on this track; tight, dry drums and rich chords in the pre choruses before a minimalist chorus progression. Pharrell is the boss of R&B.
