Sydney Guitar Festival Tributes Focus: Kirk Lorange

Which act are you paying tribute to and why? Eric Clapton, because that's what the show is about: Eric Clapton.

What was their best period musically? I think he's been great throughout his long career.

Your favourite riff of theirs and why? Has to be the riff in Layla. Very memorable.

Is their material generally easy or hard to play? Easy, if you're into the blues. The blues follows a set formula most of the time, a formula we blues players know well. Eric plays will wonderful feel and tone to die for.

What was the first song of theirs you managed to play all the way through? Can't remember.

Which album of theirs would you give to a newbie who had no idea about them to best represent them? Probably Derek And The Dominos' Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs. A great, raw album.

When and where is your gig paying tribute? 25 Aug, The Concourse.
