SINGLE PREMIERE: Swaré - 'Purple Kites'

'I was thinking just how perverse so many pop songs are, when you really listen to the lyrics.'

Sydney-based producer Swaré is back at it again with the slick beats, dropping his huge new single Purple Kites, premiering today on theMusic.com.au.

Co-produced by ARIA Award-nominated producer and The Music Podcast engineer, Michael McGylnn, as well as Toby Chew, the track layers soulful R&B melodies and sharp trap-inspired beats over lyrics about a twisted romance.

Purple Kites is loosely based on a relationship I have been in so that’s where most of the lyrics came from,” Swaré said.

“I was listening to a lot of NAO at the time too which inspired those sounds”

Swaré explains how he took the notion of a typical love song and turned the emotions up to 11.

“I was thinking just how perverse so many pop songs are, when you really listen to the lyrics. People singing about how they can’t breathe if their love isn’t with them and that kind of thing, so I wanted to write an extreme version of that.”
