Ascendant Brisbane duo OKBadlands are ramping up for a big couple of months ahead with the release of their super-slick new single, Mineral.
Following on from their excellent predecessor efforts PTY LTD and Dust & Gold, OKBadlands have delivered another warm, lush serve of quirky jazz-laced electronica with their latest tune, built as it is on glitchy, hip-swerving beats, soulful, deep bass grooves, and honeyed, mellifluous vocals.
Mineral was brought to life with a little help from fellow talented Queenslander Max Byrne (aka Golden Vessel), whose touch can be felt on the song's rhythmic centre, with OKBandlands having self-produced, recorded and arranged the track.
An infectious and inviting ride from start to finish, Mineral only heightens the excitement for the upcoming EP from which it's taken, OKBadlands — individually, Kate Gurren and Sally Latter — having swiftly shown themselves to be songwriters of the most sublime ilk, a talent only reinforced by the very real bond at the pair's creative core and reflected in the song's message.

"Friendship is probably our strongest theme," Latter said in a statement. "Kate and I have been friends since we were young and played music together in various contexts the whole time we have known each other. So music and our relationship runs parallel.
"In the same way, we've also developed alongside each other, both as people and in improving at our instruments and learning to produce ... I do think that it's our differences that make both our writing and friendship better."
If you're keen on catching them in the flesh, the two-piece will be supporting Oh Wonder for a trio of sold-out shows later this July, hitting the Metro and Factory theatres in Sydney as well as Melbourne's 170 Russell before month's end.
They'll also appear on stage at the Maroochy Music & Visual Arts Festival, as well as BIGSOUND Festival this September, having already knocked it out of the park on a run of sold-out shows in support of Cloud Control back in June.
Head to theGuide to keep across the whens and wheres over the coming months as OKBadlands prepare to release their EP; in the interim, pick up Mineral for yourself from tomorrow, 14 July.
