More Cosmo Thundercat More Cosmo Thundercat

Smooth-AF Adelaide alt-garage-folk troubadours Cosmo Thundercat have been squirrelled away in the studio in recent months working on their second EP and, now, they're ready to start revealing the fruits of the labours, with The Music being fortunate enough to pick up premiere honours for the band's newest single, Warning Bell.

An evocative, eminently listenable jam, Warning Bell showcases crisp guitars, honeyed lead vocals and infectious sing-along back-up melodies, punctuated by a gutsy, groovy six-string solo and added emphasis in its back half — all of which recalls the sort of communally tinged compositions that frequently appear on, say, Portugal. The Man records; that sort of 'sit in a circle in a backyard and clap and stomp and sing your bloody hearts out' kind of vibe that suggests, as excellent as Cosmo Thundercat are on record, it's the live arena in which they truly flourish.

If you're looking for an opportunity to experience their show and get in on the fun in the flesh, you're not short on opportunities over the next little while; the band will play a pop-up gig at the Kings Head Hotel tonight before hitting the road to support their new works from mid-next month.

The tour kicks off in just under four weeks' time, on Thursday 13 October, at Brisbane's Milk Factory, backing up the next day to play the city's Eat Street Markets before heading Melbourne-way to play Bar 303 on Saturday 22 October, and finally back home to Adelaide to round out with a home-town showing at The Grace Emily on Saturday 5 November.
