What is your store called?

The Record Store aka Lost City Records

Where are you located?

106 Sturt Road, Warradale, 5046, SA

Tell us about the people behind the scenes?

Our crew is run by a flock of ex-musos, artists and photographers. This means that we're not the brightest business minds but we do love our jobs, love music and love people coming in and sharing their passion with us.

When and why did the store open?

We took over the store late 2023. We wanted to create a store that embraced music, movies and pop culture that also showcased local artists and helped support their releases. That's why our store takes no commission on local acts. What customers pay for the album, the artist gets in full.

What do your customers most know you for?

We like to think customer service, range and product quality.

What is the most popular title you stock at the moment?

Gracie Abrahms - The Secret of Us, Sabrina Carpenter - Short N Sweet, SZA - CTRL, DJO - Decide, Kendrick Lamar - GNX

What is the most popular evergreen title?

Anything Fleetwood Mac or Nirvana

What is the best thing about running a record store in 2025?

The best thing about running a record store is the customers. You meet so many kind, amazing people that it is honestly quite refreshing. Customers share their passions, reminisce about their lives and connect with you over a love a music. A record store is just a big time capsule and watching someone come in and find an album that takes them back to a happier time is beautiful.

What is the hardest thing about running a record store in 2025?\

Besides the usual Rent and Stock costs it's when someone brings in records from loved ones who have past or people who no longer have room for their collections cause they have to move or just need money to get by. We always feel for them and try to help them the best we can.
