VIVID SYDNEY is possibly the one event Sydney has that truly makes you consider a mad dash there. Yeah sure there is cool things on frequently, but this is one thing where the whole city transforms for a solid few weeks. It’s like White Night on crack, some sort of mad festival that follows you to and from work every day, basically it's ace.
Purple Sneakers has put together a bit of a list for the absolute, jaw dropping, must go to shit that is on for 2016.
#Portals – Kučka & Rachael Archibald
Here at Purple Sneakers we have long been praising the legend that is Kučka. The one and only thing to possibly take her ethereal, unusual sounds to a next level dream world is some kind of visual aid that captivates you, draws you in and makes you forget what year it is. In steps Rachel Archibald who brings together the ideas of how technology helps people interact with personas and pleasure. Yep. You will feel many of the things at #Portals.

Silent Disco @ Central Park
If you have ever silent discoed, then you get it. You dance around, head phones on, looking like a maniac because the person next to you is slowly swaying while you mosh. It’s the introverts partying dream, the answer to the prayers of the person who has lost all their friends, the one final dance on your way home, or the best way to appease your group of mates who all love to hate each other's tastes in music. There is three DJs to choose from, all under the projection lights on the Brewery Yard walls.
MusicNSW’s Women in Electronic Music Showcase
It does not matter what gender you associate with, this is a must. There has been so much back and forth of late about the sexism experienced by women in the industry, and yet right here, at this free event, you will see exactly why all mouths should be snapped closed. Featuring Banoffee, Rainbow Chan, GL, Habits, BUOY and Mira Boru the talents are absolutely next level, and the presence of these legends even more amazing.
IGNITE: Symphonic Dance Anthems
Number one thing of appeal here is that this will feature dance anthems from the 90’s. The legendary party decade we all should have lived our prime in. Music will also feature right up until today. It will be those tracks that got you raving in the wee hours, pumped up for the parties, and nostalgic for high school (assuming you had music taste then, which of course you did). DJ Dan Murphy is teaming up with the Sydney Youth Orchestra, various singers and electronic artists to give you lights and lasers, dance anthems and symphonies.
Heaps Gay
Heaps Gay is an all-day, all-inclusive celebration of music, art and performance across 3 stages on the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend. Sold out in 2015. Alongside Collarbones, the event will feature over 30 artists including, Adi Toohey, Rainbow Chan, HTML Flowers and heaps more, plus mind-bending performances, pop-up parties, drag, interactive art installations and so much more.
Vivid Sydney, FBi Radio & UNDR Ctrl Present: ‘Purple Sneakers Tenth Birthday’
Really, this could just be left here. The absolute peak of our #tenyearsoftaste this legendary party will be spoken about in hushed tones by your grandkids as though it was the second coming of Woodstock. No jokes guys. It’s free, it has the best and brightest emerging acts from across Australia, three rooms to groove throughout, every electronic genre imaginable, and of course, a romantic flashback to the glory days of the Purple Sneakers club night it all began with. Don’t believe us? Check out the very extensive line up and RSVP right here.
