Just weeks after the release of her latest single, Serious, Naarm/Melbourne musician Tanya George has unveiled the slick, playful video for the track.

For those with their finger on the pulse of Australian music, George's name is one that might be familiar. After all, she's been performing for years, having released her debut EP back in 2018, and gone on to assert herself as a forceful performer thanks to myriad live shows, and even a winning title in the 2018 Queenscliff Music Festival busking competition.

Alongside that, she's even appeared as a finalist on the 2021 season of The Voice, and her music has scored airplay on the likes of triple j Unearthed, and performed all over the country.

Just last month, George released her latest single, Serious, with the bold, funky, and assertive cut serving as a taste of her upcoming body of work. Thematically, Serious, is a playful musical twist on real emotions, with George speaking to the women who feel dismissed, unheard, overlooked, or frustrated by those who don't take their dreams seriously.

Now, it’s also backed by a colourful, immersive music video with director Brandon Li Wan Po capturing George and her band – Swithin Anthony, Liam Conroy, Leon Kechayas and Jesse Bear – showcasing their individual personalities as they play the track in a laidback manner.

“I knew exactly the vibe I was aiming for, I was most excited to get the band together and finally record a video of a song that we have been playing together, but is now finally released into the world,” George said in a statement.

“Filming Tanya on this project was an absolute joy!” added Li Wan Po. “Everything lined up perfectly, and she created such a natural and playful atmosphere for everyone.”

With Serious out in the world and with new music still set to arrive in the near future, George will also be performing a series of shows in the coming weeks, including tonight (May 19th) at Wax Music Lounge, on May 20th at The Toff In Town, and at the Northcote Social Club on June 9th.
