Ex-King Cannons frontman Luke Yeoward is getting ready to release his long-awaited debut solo full-length, Ghosts, and theMusic.com.au is stoked to have a first taste and look at the album through the video for its rockin' title track.

With the clip featuring Yeoward belting out the tune and simultaneously filling the role of guitarist, keyboardist, percussionist and dancer, the clip utilises stark imagery and shifting shadows to great effect, it shouldn't come as too hefty a surprise that the guitarist-vocalist was pretty hands-on in all aspects of the album's making, serving as co-producer and co-engineer (both with J Bonner of Jandisc Records) along with handling the musical side of things.

The video was shot by Agostino Soldati Films, with assistance from Mikey Ting.

Yeoward headed to the United States to record the album — which also features a guest appearance from The Living End frontman and current American Idiot star Chris Cheney — last year following a successful crowdfunding campaign, enabling the veteran rocker to clearly make the record that he wanted to without compromise.

"I put together a crowdfunding campaign to see if anyone's interested in hearing a record from me, and I honestly wasn't sure if it would be successful," Yeoward said in a recent video interview about the creation of the album. "But it was, and I was fuckin' absolutely blown away at how much people were enthused by it."

Landing in the US, his first stop was Bonner's house — and he immediately found the place that he wanted to record, with the veteran producer and musician boasting a wild array of analog equipment and vintage instruments. The limits of recording to tape using only eight tracks ensured that Yeoward had to "commit to a sound and a performance", and that process had an inevitable impact on the album's overall sound, which he bills as a blend of punk-rock, reggae, Americana, soul, world music and rock'n'roll.

Ghost was mixed by Matt Voigt, with mastering from Tony "Jack The Bear" Mantz.

The album will be released on 21 April via Half Way Records/Sony Music.
