Sydney songwriter/producer Jack Grace has created a series of beautifully stark live videos in support of his debut EP, River, set in an old church in regional NSW. Today we're premiering the live video for Save You.
Grace says, "I wanted to document playing these songs off the EP live as a way to give a little more context for what I was trying to do. I chose this church, situated in the valley where I grew up (regional NSW)."
Filmed in black and white, the video contrasts with the deep rumbles of the song and Grace's haunting lyrics.
"The church was built before the turn of the last century for all the forestry workers working in the mountains nearby, The Church is meant to be maintained by the community as being a Union Church it’s not connected to a particular institution.
"It’s currently in a bad state and nobody has any plans to restore or donate money to fix it so in some ways this is a little send off for it. Apart from it being a part of history I’m not particular upset about losing it, there’s rock paintings in the mountains above that have had far worse treatment, we are a confusing culture," Grace says.
Jack Grace has been on the road with PVT this month and will soon head out in support of Airling in May. Later this month he'll play at Panama Festival and By The Meadow Festival.
