One of last year's big events on the Perth dance music calendar came courtesy of Planet X, an audio-visual dance music event that combined acclaimed, international (and local) house music talent with a multi-sensory environment that elevated it, offering something more substantial and maximalist than your standard 'insert DJ into club' kinda vibe. It's the result of three Perth event-throwing titans - Move, Polyrhythmic and Outer Body - teaming up to create an environment that isn't just inclusive enough to make you feel comfortable being yourself, but actually supportive enough that it encourages you to do so, whether it be on a larger level through its refined lineup or through smaller things, like gender-neutral bathrooms.
Now, they're back, following up the first event with a second - Planet X II - which will see the dance music experience return to the Leisureplex in East Perth on April 21st, with a huge lineup in tow. It's a mix of lighting, art and dance, with Melbourne-based lighting wizard HYPER REELIST returning to direct that side of things, while the music lineup is topped by Discwoman co-founder Umfang, UK producer Lone (in solo mode), Detroit tech veteran DJ Bone, Fred P and a whole heap more from both near and far.
