Original Drum Click play Marketday at Davies Park on Saturday.
Tommy RO from 4zzzFM’s Original Drum radio show is bringing together one of the largest posse (or should that be gaggle) of d&b DJ’s this Saturday in the Doof Tent at Market Day. He lays it all on the line…
What is the 4zzz Original Drum?
“Original Drum is QLD's premier (and only!) breakbeat showcase on the airwaves, it incorporates all broken beat genres like jungle drum n bass breaks etc and more. Original Drum rocks hard and favours the lower end frequencies which tend to cause (or inspire) arse shaking, lighters up in the air, mad shapes getting thrown on the dancefloor, heavily sideways angled shenanigans.”
When was it built?
“Original Drum kicked off and unleashed its own flavour and fury onto 4zzzfm at the dawning of 2001. Previously having one off's and specials, it came to pass that Original Drum warranted a weekly spot to showcase the music and talents of Brisbane Producers & DJ's of the breakbeat persuasion.”
It seems to like Drum and Bass. Why is this?
“Drums n bass , stripped down provides the raw rhythm for the body to rock out to, when the tear out basslines and rampant breaks thunder out of the sound system, it is not hard to see why.”
What's your role with the Drum?
Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter
“I'm the anchor, I'm the rock, my role is to be the firm bass from which to stand upon, I am also the MC, the master of ceremonies, it is my job to let everyone know what is happening, to know what is going down.”
Who's in the Original Drum Click at Market Day this Sat?
“Many have asked this question, none have received the same answer, the Original Drum Click will consist of people who can get a job done, anyone who has regularly listened to the show will have an idea as to whom they should expect to hear. This Friday night from 8-10pm will be the pre mix where all shall be revealed.”
What do you think of the Brisbane Drum and Bass scene?
“It's healthy as fuck, great parties and different crews hooking up all the time, still underground but brimming at the edges, some great producers are surfacing too, with tunes to mash up each and every dancefloor.”
What's your favourite gig of all time?
“The first Ecky Thump has a special place for me, what a night, arms and legs everywhere, it came that close to being a human avalanche onto the decks ! Nuff said!”
