John Talabot reconstructs T.E.E.D's 'Tapes And Money' from dance to minimalist house in typical Talaboltian fashion.

Orlando Higginbottom is a pretty sweet name, and while it does not belong to a character from a pompous 1930’s British film, it does in fact belong to the brains behind TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS aka T.E.E.D.Maybe he has a thing for long names? Either way, T.E.E.D is the UK dance music producer and DJ who since the release of his debut album in 2012 has been kicking around the world making quite the name for himself.

This week T.E.E.D is back in music headlines due to the re-release of JOHN TALABOT’s “ritual reconstruction” of the track ‘Tapes and Money.’ Although the remix was originally released last March along with the ‘Tapes and Money’ EP, it has recently clawed its way back to the surface ahead of some exciting things coming our way on Mr TALABOT’s behalf.

TALABOT referring to this track as a “reconstruction” is pretty damn accurate, as he’s managed to take the original dance track which evokes visions of nothing less than spinning around rapidly on a dance floor amongst strobe lights and dry ice, and makes something of a more mature, expressive track. The beats are slowed right down, and the repeated vocals give it depth, and just like that the track transfers from dance to minimalist house in a smooth TALABOT kind of way.

While I am still a massive fan of the original ‘Tapes and Money’ track, TALABOT has definitely produced a little food for thought with this one.
