Eora/Sydney-based indie-pop star on the rise follows-up sophomore EP with infectious new single amidst debut Australian headline tour.
For the last couple of years Carla Wehbe has been making a name for herself with her unique brand of indie-pop, tapping into nostalgic sounds without looking back while packing addictive hooks and melodies that will worm their way into your ears upon the very first listen.
After releasing her sophomore EP JUPITER AND MARS back in March, Wehbe isn’t done with 2023 just yet as she has readied her latest single, You Make Me Sick. Opening with big bright synths and a bouncy bassline, You Make Me Sick delivers vibrant 80s synth-pop vibes with a modern twist, while Carla’s soaring vocals deliver a cathartic, relatable ode to anxiety and toxic relationships.
Wehbe explains “’You Make Me Sick’ is fast paced. It’s angsty. You can dance to it, hype yourself up to break up with a toxic partner, go to a smash room and destroy things to it. It’s really quite versatile.”
The release of You Make Me Sick coincides with Carla’s debut headline Australian tour, having already played SXSW Sydney and supported The Chicks in Melbourne, with shows with The Chicks in Sydney & Brisbane still to come, as well as solo headline shows in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney - see below for all dates.
