Describe your show in a tweet. Hyperbolic machine induced synaesthetic head-rush #bestchemicalfreefunever
What inspired the work? My mother was synaesthetic. In my childhood it was never in question that sound had a colour and a number. This work is inspired primarily by the idea that there is value in connecting the visual and aural sense organs at the level of electrical signal.
How long did it take to synchronise the music with the laser work? I am often asked this question and it comes from a misunderstanding. I don't have to synchronize the sound with the lasers. The electrical signal is the same. What you hear is the drawing of the laser pattern itself. By creating an image I create a sound. The two things happen simultaneously, they are already 'synchronized' in the closest possible way.
What excites you most about IRL Digital Festival? Well, coming to play there for a start! This will be the first RGB show in Brisbane, so that's exciting. But also, I'm always excited by a festival that picks at the idea of technologies past - present and future.
When and where is your show? Brisbane Powerhouse. Sunday 10th May 9pm.
