With both artists' feet planted firmly in various sounds and paths of the industry, MELTEMI is a breath of fresh air amongst the current music landscape. Both Adam and Byron have a long history of experience amongst the music community here in Sydney, so the coming together of these two artists to celebrate each other's culture is something special.
Both experienced a European upbringing, so it's no surprise that their music is filled with sunny sounds, quirky percussion and their shared love for the sounds of their hometowns.
With a few tracks under their belt and a very apt Facebook live stream titled Continental Breakfast Sessions kicking off this Sunday, we wanted to find out a little bit more about Meltemi, what's been happening with the project and where they'll be taking it.
Who are you?
As the warm summer winds that blow through the Aegean sea, Meltemi is the welcome disruption to the stillness of a long summer. A two-piece born out of the southern beaches of Sydney, Adam Bozzetto and Byron both embrace their European upbringing, combined with the addiction of the sea to create a unique, often world-music soundtrack.

Kicking off the start of 2019, Meltemi has released two teaser tracks from their forthcoming EP, entitled 'Love Go' and 'O.U.A.T.' with further releases scheduled for the upcoming weeks ahead.
How did Meltemi come to be?
An era ago, Adam and Byron played alongside each other at a niche club night in the Shire created for people who wanted more than the top forty at the local suburban nightclub. Fast forward to 2018, Byron was producing the infamous Señor Sundays parties in Bondi and unknowingly booked Adam to play via UNDR Ctrl. Reunited around those halcyon days a decade ago, the pair began a musical discussion that ended up in the studio finding ways to fuse tastes, Adam’s 909 drum machine and Byron’s guitars and lyrics into what has become their unique approach to electronic music.
What are we talking, vibe-wise?
Deep Forest, Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers, Avalanches, Jamie XX, Beach House and everything in between. Our first two releases definitely show an approach to creating driving dance tracks with intertwined samples across a rise and fall of deep house groove. Looking ahead, the upcoming releases do not depart but rather adventure away from these tracks, bringing in original vocal melodies and more subtle intricacies and feels that could easily soundtrack a boozy sunset, tripping over daybeds on a golden European beach.
Tell us a bit about your Continental Breakfast Sessions project. What can we expect from you moving forward?
We are serving up a European Continental breakfast from the seaside (on the timber deck of the Vaucluse Yacht Club) with us playing a set of our favourite tunes to soundtrack your morning. Think mimosas, pastries, sliced fruit and cereal, paired with Pacific Coliseum, Crazy P, Sébastian Tellier and Harvey Sutherland. It will be on the 16th, 23rd and 30th of this month from 7am - 9am and will be streamed live via our Facebook. You can check out the event here.
We also will be supporting Yolanda Be Cool on Sunday the 24th March at the Beach Road Hotel in Bondi.
Where can we hear more of your work?
