Although DOG IS DEAD brings to mind the trauma of receiving a telegram about your favourite pet’s death (why a telegram, mum?) their tunes are sure to delight. They’ve got a little bit of a buzz about them and it's no wonder.
Straight out of Nottingham, these Robin Hoods are stealing from their own treasure trove of musical talent and feeding it to the poor and music-hungry. Ever since 2008, they’ve been jamming together, writing new tracks and touring to the cheers of their fans.
Upcoming shows supporting the likes of KING CHARLES and our very own CLOUD CONTROL in the UK make us wish they’d hurry up and get down to Australia. And maybe bring Cloud Control back with them. .
Bombay Bicycle Club’s Jack Steadman recently remixed their track ‘Two Devils', taking an already great song and adding some really interesting layers to it. It’s a perfect song to groove to on a warm summer’s day, or really any day. The summer thing just helps when you’re using it as an excuse to drink some cool beer at the same time.
Our favourite UK teen drama Skins used the track ‘Glockenspiel Song’ in the final episode of Series 5. Yes, they were one of those bands that played on the show. This puts Dog is Dead in the same boat as Foals and Crystal Castles, who each went on to become big names across the globe. Providing they don’t capsize, Dog is Dead is destined for the same thing.
David Kosten, the producer responsible for Bat for Lashes is currently working with the band on their debut album set for release this Autumn.
Vocally reminiscent of acts like Dr. Dog and Arcade Fire, Dog is Dead brings together all the musical elements of catchy indie hits with a sharp, youthful edge. Particularly interesting is the addition of instruments such as the glockenspiel and the saxophone to conventional chirpy guitar riffs.
