Position: Managing Director of White Sky Music
When and where are you speaking? Face The Music, 14-15 Nov, Melbourne Arts Centre. AAM Panel on Artist Managers.
What’s your area of expertise and what experience do you have? I started White Sky, a music business management and bookkeeping company 12 years ago. I’ve also worked as a band manager (The Temper Trap, Little Stevies) which involved a lot of international touring and releasing albums independently. But ultimately my ‘thing’ is on the finance side of the music biz.
What topics will you be talking about at Face The Music? My panel discusses the finances of modern artist managers and the impact to artists and labels from changes in the industry over the last decade.
What do you hope to learn from Face The Music? FTM is a great way to be kept up to date with what’s happening in the music industry overall and what people are up to.
What are you most looking forward to at Face The Music? I’m really keen to hear Steve Albini’s keynote. He’s a smart, innovative guy. He’s not afraid to tell it how it is.
What’s one question about the music industry you’d love to have the answer to? Will the distribution of money in the music industry ever change for the benefit of artists? Or will technology continue to advantage the support services and distributors and leave the artists high and dry?
Face The Music takes place at Melbourne's Art Centre Friday 14 and Saturday 15 November. Tickets will be available at the door. More info here.
