Brissy indie-rock gems Hound. are gearing up to hit the road in support of brand-spankin'-new EP Astronomical Unit, proudly premiering on The Music today to celebrate its release.
The band are just a week away from hitting the road on a joint EP tour with their mates in Summer Blood, who are launching their own extended player, Comet. The bands kick off in Newcastle, at the Stag & Hunter, on Thursday 11 August, before heading to Sydney for a double serve of shows (12 August at Mr Falcons; 13 August at Brighton Up Bar).
They repeat the feat in Melbourne (Friday 19 August, The Retreat Hotel; 20 August, Bendigo Hotel) before slowing down for a final pair of shows up in Queensland — the first at Brisbane's Black Bear Lodge on Friday 9 September; the second (and last of the tour) at The Spotted Cow, Toowoomba, on Friday 16 September. Summer Blood will be absent from that gig, along with the first Melbourne show, but will be around for all other performances on the run.
Hound.'s blistering new four-track EP follows in the wake of previous releases such as the MiniVolume EP and warmly received full-length Dying In The Sun, and only serves to bolster their growing reputation as some of the country's foremost purveyors of post-punk-tinged, frenetic and infectious indie-rock that's innately cool but never afraid to have fun (that ostentatious, wailing guitar solo in Gimme That is frigging wonderful, and kinda comes from nowhere — keep your ears peeled for it).
