More Busby Marou More Busby Marou

We poured our hearts and souls into Blood Red; it is our most ambitious album yet. In a world that can often feel dark and uncertain, these songs are a reminder to keep moving forward with hope and optimism, even when it’s hard. We can’t wait for everyone to hear it and feel the same sense of inspiration and strength that we do.

Crazy Like That

Crazy Like That celebrates the wild parts of ourselves that make us unique. We believe that everyone has a little bit of crazy deep down, and that’s not something to be ashamed of. It’s what makes us human.

Blood Stream

We wrote this song with Tom Eggert and the super-talented George Sheppard, who brought his infectious melodies. Bloodstream is a track that hits close to home. It captures the feeling of life moving too fast and is a reminder that sometimes our bodies are telling us to slow down, take a step back, breathe, and enjoy the moment. It’s time to recharge!

Where I Wanna Be

At the heart of this song is the journey of self-discovery and the longing for a place that brings us happiness. It was originally written for the legend John Farnham with the help of our talented mates Ian Kenny, Gretta Ray and Lindsay Rhimes, but it quickly became clear that its real home was with us. Where I Wanna Be has made a perfect addition to our set list, and nice to have another upbeat song to choose from.

Conversation

This song was written by Tom Busby, Jeremy Marou and Tom Eggert (who also produced the track); it is all groove and the only track on the album to feature a whistle hook. Despite the happy-go-lucky vibe, the lyrics take a jab at social media and how it's killing our ability to connect with each other. But, in line with the album’s theme, the song stays positive and reminds us to value our relationships. It’s just that sometimes, we wish we could put down the f**king screens for some good old-fashioned conversation!”

Smile From A Stranger

This track is all about the power of a simple act of kindness and how it can turn someone's bad day into a great one! A smile from a stranger is something we could all do with.

Crying

This song is our powerful tribute to the resilience of our communities in the face of adversity. It explores the mental health effects that our farmers face in silence after enduring droughts, floods, and fires. It's an important message that hits close to home for many of us.

The lyrics are raw and emotional, capturing the pain and struggle that farmers experience as they try to cope with the aftermath of these disasters. But despite the heavy subject matter, we hope this song also offers hope and support, reminding us that it's okay to cry and reach out for help when we need it.

Long Way Round

This song celebrates life’s ups and downs. It's a personal story about the journey we take to find love and happiness, even if it means taking the long way round.

Surrender

This is old-school Busby Marou, and it's one of the band's favourites. It's a grown-up love song and a reminder that life is short and we should embrace every moment, including the ones spent chasing love.

Someone

This track was an incredible experience for us, as we had the opportunity to collaborate with Darius Rucker in his home in Charleston, South Carolina. It was a magic memory that we'll never forget.

The lyrics tell the story of the journey of love and how sometimes it takes a few heartbreaks to find that special someone. We wanted to create a timeless classic inspired by some of our musical heroes like Willie Nelson and Tom Petty.

Low

This song sounds like a party, but the truth is that it's about something much deeper.

Sometimes we all feel low, and that's okay. Life can be tough, and we all have our struggles. So this is our song to remind us that we're not alone and to reach out for help when we need it.

Everything Is Beautiful

Everything is Beautiful was inspired by spending some treasured downtime with our families and seeing the world through our children’s eyes. There’s an uplifting piece of hope in the feeling of the music and the lyrics, suggesting that maybe we can all be happy again.
