BIGSOUND Artist Profile: Grenadiers

Member/Role: Jesse Coulter/Singer-Guitarist

Hometown: Adelaide

Short description of your band and your music: Loud, visceral, full of piss and vinegar.

Has the party side of the music industry been all you were hoping for so far in your career? My wallet and liver say no, but all those precious, precious memories I've lost say yes.

What is the best thing that's happened to you/your band so far? Supporting Cold Chisel was a highlight, as were getting triple j's feature album and doing Like A Version. But the best is always filling a room at a headline show.

Are your ambitions mainly artistic or commercial? Commercial — I just know that when I can stand aboard my own yacht, I'll be happy. We're no artists.

Is your music best rendered in the studio or the live realm? Well, on record I don't forget lyrics or play too fast, but a record doesn't sweat on you, hug you or pour beer down your back.

If you could have any act past or present join you on your next tour who would you tap? The Hives.

What industry lessons would you like to take away from the BIGSOUND conference? Mainly how to get this outside the country, and how to play to more people inside it.

What acts are you looking forward to checking out at the BIGSOUND showcase? Cosmic Psychos, Horror My Friend, Deafcult, The Pretty Littles.

Why should people come and see you from amongst the many cool bands at BIGSOUND? Because we will get your toes a-tappin' and your head a-spinnin' in all the wrong (right) ways.
