BIGSOUND 2019 Artist Focus: NETTI

What you need to know about your BIGSOUND artists.

Answered by: Antionette Servello

Give us a short description of your music: PURE VENOM.

Which acts are on your must-see list at BIGSOUND? DREGG, The Gloom In The Corner, Butter.

Why should people come and see you among the many amazing bands at BIGSOUND? I take elements from metal/death-step/witch-house/hip hop and fuse them together to create something people don't expect.

What music trends do you think are dominating right now, and do you have any predictions for the coming year? Personally for me and where I am I feel a crossover happening between metal/hip hop and dark electronic music. I also just feel artists are stepping more out of their comfort zones and mixing genres which is what the music scene really needs.

In your career to date, what have been the key watershed moments? Being able to play at more heavier/experimental events and bringing something new.

What industry lessons would you like to take away from the BIGSOUND conference? More about the other roles of people involved in the music industry, and how I can better improve my own self-management skills along with communicating with others involved in the music industry.

What do you identify as the most pressing issue impacting the Australian music industry at present? Getting yourself off the ground - as starting off and, like many independent artists, especially women, coming into the music industry (which is very male-dominated), we often get overlooked.

What is the best bit of advice you've been given to prepare for your time at BIGSOUND? Focus. Focus, FOCUS and focus.

When and where is your BIGSOUND showcase? 3 Sep, Woolly Mammoth Mane Stage, 11.40pm; 4 Sep, Crowbar, 8.10pm.
