What you need to know about your BIGSOUND artists.

Answered by: Vincent McIntyre – guitar

Give us a short description of your music: Obnoxious guitar music with a sweet, poppy aftertaste.

Which acts are on your must-see list at BIGSOUND? 100, Black Rock Band, Hannah Blackburn, murmurmur, P-UniQue, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers, The Buoys, yergurl and basically every other act.

Why should people come and see you among the many amazing bands at BIGSOUND? Mainly because we are nice boys, but also maybe because our live show is always entertaining. Guitars have been thrown, tears have been shed, and Noah perpetually needs to use the bathroom. An emotional rollercoaster that you can dance to.

What music trends do you think are dominating right now, and do you have any predictions for the coming year? Good music is trendy and dominating and this should always be the case. Also, loving us some trendy country-rap at the moment.

In your career to date, what have been the key watershed moments? Releasing our debut album, Elephant Room. We are so fucking thankful that we got to create that album with Jack [Wood, producer], and release it into the world.

What industry lessons would you like to take away from the BIGSOUND conference? We actually can't wait to see the best live acts in the country do their thing (and then swiftly reappropriate it all into our own live show).

What do you identify as the most pressing issue impacting the Australian music industry at present? Among many, a big one from our experience is mental health. The music industry has the power to have such an incredibly negative impact on the mental health of those working within it. Organisations like Support Act do wonderful work, but there is still so much that can be done.

What is the best bit of advice you've been given to prepare for your time at BIGSOUND? To have a bloody good live show, and to eat at I Like Ramen at least once.

When and where is your BIGSOUND showcase? 3 Sep, Woolly Mammoth Alehouse Stage, 10.40pm; 5 Sep, The Outpost, 8.50pm.
