How did you get into the barber business? I started barbering at 17 years old in Kerang, Victoria. A very close family friend owned a barber shop and thought I had potential to be a great barber, so they offered me an apprenticeship and I took it.

How long has the shop been running for? Our Flinders Lane Store has been open since September 2015, however the Alpha Barbers brand was established in 2011.

What services do you specialise in? Haircuts, in particular 'the flattop', which I learnt in Kerang, and hot towel face shaves and beard trims.

What makes your shop a cut above the rest? We are located close to Flinders Street station, and open from 8am! There's no appointments, so no planning needed in advance to book yourself in, and we are very well priced.

Do you offer any extra services? Our niche market are students and business men who visit the shop on the run, so we aim to be efficient and focus on the barbering services.

What was the most memorable cut you have done? A flattop with a mullet at the back… terrible.

If you could cut/style the hair of any celebrity, who would it be and what would you give them? I would like to shave that awful looking head of hair on Donald Trump, not that I would have any desire to make him more attractive.
