The future of a young metal band is under question after scathing a YouTube comment.
Members of Brisbane metal band Aggregator have spoken out about the emotional hell they've endured over the past few days after a comment on the YouTube video for their new clip Scum Dies Alone claimed the band were “not metal enough”.
Speaking exclusively to SPA Confidential, guitarist Jackie J said that the band were in tatters after the three word comment, which came from anonymous user 'GarryHardOn123'. The band has taken the video down as a result.
“We pride ourselves on our dedication to metal – it's the only music that we like and we live our lives by it. For someone to say that we're not metal enough… I just can't even tell you how devastating this is.”
The guitarist, who works in an IT role at a prominent Australian superannuation company, said he understands the mental state of internet trolls can often be shaky, but says it's little consolation.

“I guess it's just a projection of his own insecurity, and I get that, but that doesn't make it hurt any less,” Jackie said. “When someone attacks everything that you love and have dedicated your life to, it's just the most horrendous feeling. I'm too depressed to pick up my guitar and I'm scared I'd stab myself with it if I tried.”
Asked if the band would ever recover from such a crushing setback, J was unsure it would be possible.
“What if someone had told U2 they weren't boring enough back when they started?” he lamented. “Who knows what they might have done? Life sucks.”
