TAKE YOUR TIME are a Melbourne duo who popped up earlier this year on Gab Strum’s (aka Japanese Wallpaper) new-ish label Neat Lawn. Their first release, a 7” featuring tracks ‘Sleep In’ and ‘I Feel It Every Day’, is only the second release on the label, alongside fellow newcomer Stay At Home Son. They’ve copped quite a bit of attention already, including airplay on Triple J and BBC Radio 1Xtra, and for good reason. They’re definitely an Artist to Watch in 2017.
It’s cruisy stuff, and it just feels like a bit of hug. Clean house beats sit under minimalist production and gentle vocals that are the true feature. Both Angela Schilling (Swimming, Oliver White) and Lee Hannah (The Townhouses, Sessility) have extensive experience working under other monikers. In coming together as Take Your Time, they’ve created an interesting melding of their different styles, based around a shared passion for loungey, jazzy RnB and house.
Having toured with the likes of Yeo and Polographia already, we’re looking forward to what’s next from this fledgling act. Their label Neat Lawn hasn’t let us down yet with strong choices in the artists they back, and we’re pumped for more new music and shows from Take Your Time in 2017.
