With the latest collab release from Melbourne's Voldy and Sydney's Big Skeez, Time Tells we asked them to interview each other about their upcoming plans for 2023, artists to watch and upcoming performances.
Time Tells draws its inspiration from Voldy’s South African roots, with sounds of amapiano and afro-fusion. This connection to his home can be felt throughout the record’s heartfelt and honest lyricism, as both artists ride the beautifully vibrant production handled by IJALE.
The Nigerian/Melbournian artist/producer who is signed to Valve Sounds of Mushroom Group is no stranger to this sound and compliments Skeez and Voldy wordplay, as they together showcase the immense talent of the African Diaspora in Australia’s music scene.
The lyrics tell a tale of surprise and love, with both artists confessing their admiration for their new-found partners/ passions. The song opens with Voldy admitting, “I ain’t loved somebody in a long time, feelings I left in the past”, showing both artists in a new light, with honest and open discourse of their changing feelings towards love.
Big Skeez has been releasing music since the latter half of 2020, with releases like No Trace, On Tonight (Foura), Where Yuh From” with Gold Fang, singles Bang and Up, with more recently working with Human Movement on House Check, a House-Garage anthem.
