Anti-vaudeville comedy group Stop The Laughs have today expressed great joy at the recent upshot in merchandise sales they have experienced this afternoon, as the initial run of their very-niche Fuck Abbott T-Shirts sold out in a flash.
“Bud Abbott was one of history's worst exponents of so-called 'comedy', his reign was long and strong as he somehow remained one of the most popular comedians on the planet for decades,” spokesperson Delilah Frances told SPA Confidential today.
“Who's On First? represented everything that was sick with the modern world upon its release back in the 1930s, and it is as filthy and reprehensible now as it ever was.”
Bud Abbott was one half of the popular comedy duo Abbott & Costello, who were particularly popular through the 1940s and 1950s. Their work is said to be some of the most influential of all time in the comedy genre.
While Ms Frances, who would not divulge her age, seems genuinely offended by the work of the comedy great, she has no issue with the expletive her shirts are emblazoned with.
“Fuck is just a word, son,” she said. “Abbott's work was something far more sinister and, scarily, far more pervasive.”

When asked what she puts the recent interest in her shirts down to, Frances says the power of prayer and the “inherent good of young people today” goes a long way.
“I was always somewhat ahead of my time, I think you'll find,” she said. “Now, in 2013, people are ready to listen to a trailblazer like Delilah Frances."
The Costello's A Cunt shirts, which take aim at Abbott's partner in crime Lou Costello, are reportedly not selling nearly as well.
