An Open Letter On ‘Wrecking Ball’

An open letter on ‘Wrecking Ball’

Here at SPA Confidential we have been watching the recent discussion about wrecking ball with great intrigue.

Although hesitant to enter the debate, we now feel compelled to express our support, respect and gratitude to wrecking balls around the world.

Surely sitting alongside Sgt Pepper's as one of man's greatest achievements, the wrecking ball should not be underestimated – like Lorde, it looks humble and mild but actually possesses a great force.

In the wrong hands a wrecking ball could be used to devastating effect, much like a contestant covering a classic hit on X-Factor, but under the control of a trained professional it can be a building site's best friend (just like a former X Factor contestant looking for work).

Unlike controlled explosions that are often used to bring down a structure, the wrecking ball has far more grace and beauty to its swing.

We feel that Miley Cyrus has belittled the wrecking ball, using it a prop to wreak destruction and failing to showcase positive aspects of the ball.

We implore pop fans of the world, to pause and contemplate all the good wrecking balls have done. Let's not let Miley ruin wrecking balls for the rest of us.
