Album Focus: Rose Parker

Album title? Under The Same Sun
Where did the title of your new album come from? Under The Same Sun is inspired by a desire to create more tolerance and understanding of the similarities and the differences we share as humans sharing the same planet, living under the same sun.
How many releases do you have now? Four with The Velvet Janes (one EP, three albums), one solo EP (The Long Journey Home). So that's six now!
How long did it take to write/record? 18 months. David Hyams convinced me preproduction was necessary. I was resistant and belligerent, but he was absolutely right. I wanted a dreamy, beautiful and rocking sound with great guitars and stories. Hope we got it.
Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making? Living and breathing in Western Australia. Our oceans, our wheatbelt, our roads, our people, the humans I get to do life with, the stuff that happens every day that we have to work out and live with.
What's your favourite song on it? Oh my! That changes every day — Sycamore Tree, Take The Ride and One Wish (duet with Dave Mann) just blow me away.
Will you do anything differently next time? You don't know what you don't know. That is, you learn every time you have the courage to throw yourself off the deep end. I've learnt to trust my instincts.
