"I think Skinhunger is the best song I've written. It's scathing and loving simultaneously."

Album title? Bliss

Where did the title of your new album come from? This is an album about family, magic, ambition, resentment and love. Peter Carey did a pretty good job of that in his novel of the same name. Appreciative nod to Mr Carey.

How many releases do you have now? I have two solo albums and a few EPs. This is the first work we've done a foursome.

How long did it take to write/record? Some of the songs were written last year, other much earlier. It took three years to record.

Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making? Love, raising a young family, certain aspects of Australian foreign policy, happiness, resentment, my amazing bandmates, Richard Putnam who produced the record, the songs — some of which woke me up at four am.

What's your favourite song on it? I think Skinhunger is the best song I've written. It's scathing and loving simultaneously. Naturally a duet, full of tension.

Will you do anything differently next time? I will have more time, sing everything perfectly, collaborate with Elvis and everyone in the band will love my hawaiian shirts. So, probably not.

When and where is your launch/next gig? VIC: 20 Dec, Toff in Town.
