The end of November is imminent, and the sun is tentatively starting to make more of an appearance. What better way to celebrate the approach of summer than with a bouncy, playful pop EP?
Indie pop artist Tushar - known in Adelaide, where he is based, and beyond, for making feel-good bops - is gearing up to release his sophomore EP, Feels Like A Start. The EP’s five tracks were all written by Tushar himself and producer Benny Tamblyn. Together, the duo have created an energetic, bubblegum sound that will be the perfect soundtrack for a breezy summer.
Tonight, the focus single of the EP, stands out - a sweet, danceable ode to late-night tipsy calls to loved ones. It is a song that is sure to be relatable to the partygoers this summer.
Here, Tushar walks us through the five tracks that make up the promising little gem that is Feels Like A Start.
Feels Like A Start
I created this track years ago and completely overlooked it until recently. While traveling, I rediscovered it and was reminded of how enjoyable it was to play. I finished the track and brought it to Benny, who helped me bring it to life. For me, this track represents a fresh start—a source of motivation to embark on a new journey.

Peaches And Wine
I recall the first time I heard the guitar parts that Benny laid down, and I thought, "This is going to be so catchy!" I tried writing the lyrics, but I couldn't find anything that felt truly impactful. So, I decided to craft a fictional story about a loved one leading a double life—something that seems trustworthy but turns out to be a cold-blooded criminal with a venomous smile! While it may not hold deep significance for Benny and me, it's an absolute blast to play live!
Drowning In Your Mess
I’d consider this one of our earliest songs. Benny and I wrote it in 2020 when I was living with someone who really got under my skin. Thankfully, I no longer live with them! Let’s just say their standards for cleanliness and consideration were less than ideal. This song is dedicated to anyone who’s ever dealt with difficult housemates. Feel free to share it with them!
Tonight
Creating Tonight was a fun experience! While chatting with Benny and reflecting on those late-night drunk calls we used to make to friends, family, lovers, and anyone willing to answer, we found inspiration for our songwriting session. Benny laid down some amazing guitar riffs while I crafted the melody, and everything just flowed from there! I think many people around the world will connect with this song in a humorous, awkward kind of way.
Bloodshot Eyes
This was actually Benny and my third songwriting session back in 2020. We aimed to create something that fit within the Indie/Rock genre, something that would make us tap our feet and nod our heads. The lead riff Benny came up with was incredibly catchy, and I knew right away that this track needed to be included in the EP. The song was inspired by an incident Benny experienced at a party, where someone was looking to pick fights with anyone who disagreed with him. What a typical display of drunken hyper-masculinity!
Feels Like A Start will be available on all streaming platforms on November 20th.
